Frequently asked questions (FAQs) for sick pets

A veterinary emergency includes serious situations such as difficulty breathing, trauma or injury, uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, sudden collapse, heatstroke, toxin ingestion, or rapid deterioration. These situations require urgent vet attention at home or a clinic.

The cost of a thorough at-home clinical pet examination by one of our professional, caring vets during weekdays 7:00am - 5:00pm starts from only $159. Medications, lab work (such as blood tests), evenings (5:00pm - 8:00pm) and after-hours (8:00pm - 11:00pm), weekends and public holidays have additional surcharges to this standard visit price. Please note, if no local vet is available, we may arrange one from outside your area. A travel fee may apply and will be confirmed before booking.

Yes. Pawssum offers emergency mobile vet visits in most areas 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. Availability depends on location and vet schedules.

Response times depend on your postcode, traffic and vet availability. After triaging your call, the team will aim to send a vet as soon as possible. In some urgent cases, or when availability is not immediate, they may advise you to head to a 24‐hour emergency clinic if faster care is required.

Keep your pet calm and comfortable as much as possible. Secure other pets or children, remove any hazards, note any symptoms (vomiting, panting, limp, etc.), and have your pet’s location clear for the vet. Being ready helps the vet deliver faster, better care.

If your pet’s condition requires hospital treatment (surgery, special diagnostics or intensive care), the mobile vet will stabilise your pet, explain what needs to happen next, and refer you to a partner veterinary hospital. You’ll be guided through the process.
