Travel and coverage across Brisbane

Pawssum vets cover the northern suburbs through Mitchelton, Boondall and Banyo, bayside through Deagon, Redcliffe and Rothwell, and the southern suburbs through Tarragindi. There is no separate travel fee inside our standard Brisbane service area, so the $399 quoted on the phone is the $399 on the invoice.

Outside that area a travel component is quoted before you book, never added afterwards. Across the rest of the Brisbane market: usually included. one brisbane provider charges $49 inside its standard area and another charges $5.00 per kilometre under 15km. Some practices charge travel by the kilometre and others by zone, so when you ring around, ask which one you are being quoted.

Pet cremation in Brisbane

Cremation is booked separately from the euthanasia and is usually the largest part of the total. In Brisbane, general cremation with no ashes returned runs $198 to $420, with most Brisbane providers charging a flat fee regardless of weight. Private cremation with the ashes returned runs $250 to $435 for a dog under about 10kg and $420 to $545 for a dog over 40kg.

With Pawssum, general cremation starts at $279 and private cremation at $459 whatever your dog weighs. We work with Pets Forever.

Collection and transport

Collection from home or a vet is usually included in business hours. After-hours and weekend fees range from $95 at most providers up to $495 at one, so this is the figure worth asking about first

If you would rather arrange cremation yourself, Pets Forever, Paws to Heaven, Pet Angel and RSPCA Pets at Rest all serve Brisbane.

What changes the price in Brisbane

  • Distance from the city. Outer Brisbane and the fringe usually attract a travel component from practices that charge by the kilometre.
  • After hours. Evenings, weekends and public holidays carry a loading at most practices. Pawssum does not apply one.
  • Which crematorium. Brisbane crematoria rates differ widely, from $198 to $545 across the providers who publish their prices, so the same dog can cost noticeably more or less depending on where the booking goes.
  • Who handles transport. Some providers include collection in the cremation price and some invoice it separately.

Low-cost dog euthanasia in Brisbane

If cost is what is stopping you, RSPCA Queensland at Wacol and the Animal Welfare League Queensland are the places to ring in Queensland. Several offer reduced fees for owners holding a pension or healthcare card, and eligibility is assessed case by case rather than published as a price list.

Questions Brisbane families ask

Can I bury my dog at home in Brisbane?

None of Brisbane's major councils publishes a position on burying a pet at home, and neither do Moreton Bay, Logan, Redland or Ipswich. The 60 centimetre depth figure that circulates online is Toowoomba Regional Council's rule and applies there rather than here. Queensland's state guidance covers livestock only.

How quickly can a vet come out in Brisbane?

Pawssum can usually attend the same day across Brisbane, seven days a week between 6:00am and 11:00pm. If your dog is distressed now, call rather than booking online.

Why can I not find a Brisbane vet clinic's euthanasia price online?

Because almost none of them publish it. When you ring, ask four things: the euthanasia fee, whether a consultation is charged on top, whether sedation is included, and what cremation would add.

At-home euthanasia in Brisbane with Pawssum starts at $399 and includes sedation, so your dog is asleep and comfortable before anything else happens. We can usually attend the same day, and the price does not change in the evening or at the weekend.

If you are not certain it is time, say so when you call, or work through our quality of life assessment first. Our team would rather talk it through with you than book an appointment you are not ready for.

Frequently asked questions about dog euthanasia costs in Brisbane

How much does it cost to put a dog to sleep in Brisbane?

At home in Brisbane, $350 to $575 on a weekday and $549 to $749 after hours, before cremation. Brisbane veterinary clinics do not publish a euthanasia fee, so a clinic price has to be asked for. Is there a travel fee for a home visit in Brisbane?

Not inside our standard Brisbane service area, where the $399 quoted is the $399 invoiced. Outside it, any travel component is quoted before you book. Across the rest of the Brisbane market, usually included. One Brisbane provider charges $49 inside its standard area and another charges $5.00 per kilometre under 15km.
