What happens next

Our vets review your request and information

Our vet will review the information you shared about your pet.

We contact you to confirm a time

We'll get in touch by phone, SMS or email to confirm a time for your 15–20 minute free Telepet consult. Please keep an eye on your messages so we can lock it in quickly.

Speak with your Pawssum vet

At the agreed time, our compassionate and experienced vet will call you via the video link received from our system, to talk through your concerns, your pet's comfort and what options might be kindest for them and for you.

How to prepare for your consult

You don't need to prepare anything special, but some families find these simple steps helpful.

  • Think about your pet's "good days" and "bad days" over the last few weeks.
  • Make a note of any big changes in pain, appetite, mobility, toileting or behaviour.
  • If more than one family member is involved, you may like to have them join the call.
  • Write down any questions you're worried about asking — nothing is too small or too difficult to share.

This is a safe, judgement-free conversation. Our vets are here to listen and support you, not to rush you into a decision.

Want to understand what a peaceful goodbye at home looks like?

If you'd like to read ahead before your consult, this page explains how Pawssum's at-home euthanasia visits work and what to expect on the day.

Prefer to reflect quietly before your call?

Our Quality of Life Assessment can help you think through your pet's comfort, pain and enjoyment of life in your own time, and can be a helpful guide for your conversation with the vet.

If your pet's condition worsens suddenly

If your pet is in severe distress or their condition suddenly worsens before we speak, please contact us directly on 0480 030 580 so we can help as quickly as possible.

If you believe your pet is experiencing an immediate life-threatening emergency and we are unavailable, please present to your nearest emergency vet clinic.

Thank you for trusting Pawssum to help you through this decision. You're not alone in this, and we're here to support you and your pet with compassion.
