You don't have to decide alone

When you love your pet, the thought of "is it time?" can feel overwhelming. You might be seeing changes in their pain, mobility, appetite or joy, but you're not sure what it really means - or if you're making the decision too soon or too late.

Our free Telepet consult is a gentle, no-obligation conversation with a Pawssum vet. We'll listen, ask about your pet's day-to-day life, and help you understand whether more time, more support, or a peaceful goodbye at home is the kindest choice.

What you get in your free Telepet consult

A 15–20 minute call with an experienced and compassionate vet, focused on clarity - not pressure.

  • A safe space to share what you're seeing - no judgement, just listening.
  • Simple questions about your pet's pain, mobility, appetite and enjoyment of life.
  • Clear explanation of what your pet may be experiencing medically.
  • Discussion of your options: extra palliative care, pain relief, or at-home euthanasia.
  • Time for your questions about how at-home euthanasia works, step by step.

Our vets are here to support you in making the most loving decision for your pet and your family.

How the free Telepet consult works

1. Share a few details

Complete a short online form about your pet - it only takes a minute and helps us prepare for your call.

Start here

2. Speak with a Pawssum vet

At your booked time, a vet will call you (or join by video if you prefer) to talk through your concerns, your pet's quality of life and your questions.

3. Choose the next step that feels right

If it's not time yet, we'll discuss ways to keep your pet more comfortable at home. If euthanasia is the kindest option, we can help arrange a peaceful at-home visit - with no obligation to book.

This free consult is especially helpful if…

  • Your pet has a chronic illness (for example cancer, kidney disease or severe arthritis) and you're not sure how much they're really coping.
  • You're seeing more "bad days" than good, but you're scared of making the decision too early.
  • You've been told euthanasia may be an option, but you still have questions or doubts.
  • You want to understand what a peaceful at-home goodbye would actually look like.
  • Different family members feel differently, and you need a calm, expert perspective.

You love your pet deeply. Our job is to make sure love - not fear or guilt - leads this decision.

If and when it's time, we provide a peaceful goodbye at home

If, after your Telepet consult, you choose at-home euthanasia, Pawssum's mobile vets can come to your home in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Gold Coast. Prices start from $399.

A typical visit includes:

  • A calm arrival and time to meet your pet and family.
  • Clear explanation of each step and answers to your questions.
  • A gentle sedative first, so your pet relaxes and falls into a deep sleep.
  • When you're ready, the final medication so your pet passes peacefully, without pain.
  • As much time as you need to hold, talk to and be with your pet.
  • Help with aftercare and cremation arrangements, if you wish.

Families who started with "I'm not sure if it's time…"

"We weren't sure if our old girl was ready and I was terrified of making the wrong choice. The Pawssum vet listened, talked through her symptoms and helped us feel sure. On the day, they were so gentle and never rushed us. She passed peacefully on her favourite blanket at home."

- Sarah M., Sydney

"Having a vet to talk to first made such a difference. We went through our boy's good days and bad days, and I felt like we were making a decision out of love, not panic. When we chose to say goodbye at home, everything was explained and handled with so much care."

- James T., Melbourne
