Benefits of booking an annual at-home pet examination include:

  • Monitor overall health - An annual examination allows your veterinarian to assess your pet's overall health and well-being, providing a baseline for comparison in future visits.
  • Vaccination updates - During the annual exam, your vet will review and update your pet's vaccinations to ensure they are protected against preventable diseases.
  • Parasite prevention - The vet will discuss and administer or prescribe preventive measures to protect your pet from fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites.
  • Dental checkup - The vet will examine your pet's teeth and gums, provide dental cleaning if necessary, and offer advice on dental care.
  • Weight management - Regular checkups help monitor your pet's weight, ensuring they maintain a healthy body condition and avoid obesity-related health issues.
  • Nutrition assessment - The vet will discuss your pet's dietary needs and recommend appropriate food and feeding practices to maintain their health.
  • Behaviour evaluation - Your vet can address any behaviour concerns you have and provide guidance on training and behaviour modification.
  • Early detection of health issues - Regular examinations help identify potential health problems early, allowing for timely intervention and treatment.
  • Senior pet care - For older pets, annual exams are crucial for monitoring age-related health issues and adjusting care plans accordingly.
  • Heart and lung evaluation - The vet will listen to your pet's heart and lungs to check for any abnormalities.
  • Skin and coat assessment - The vet will examine your pet's skin and coat for any signs of allergies, infections, or parasites.
  • Joint and mobility check - The vet will assess your pet's joints and mobility to identify any signs of arthritis or other musculoskeletal issues.
  • Skin and coat health - The vet will check for any skin issues, allergies, or coat abnormalities that may require attention.
  • Bloodwork and laboratory tests - Depending on your pet's age and health status, the vet may recommend blood tests to screen for internal health issues.
  • Discuss lifestyle changes - The annual visit is an opportunity to discuss any changes in your pet's lifestyle or environment that may affect their health.
  • Pet owner education - Annual exams provide an opportunity for pet owners to ask questions, seek advice, and stay informed about the latest in proper pet care.

One of our caring and professional vets will visit your home, and provide you and your beloved pet with service you will cherish.

What to expect

During the at-home visit, the vet will perform a thorough physical examination of your pet to assess their overall health. Here are some of the things that may happen during an at-home vet visit:

  • The vet will start by asking you questions about your pet's current condition, medical history, and general behaviour.
  • They will then perform a thorough physical examination of your pet which may include checking temperature, pulse, respiration rate, listening to their heart and lungs, and examining their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. If they find any issues, they might collect a blood or urine sample for analysis at the lab.
  • Once the vet has gathered all the necessary information, they will provide you feedback about your pet.
  • If necessary, the vet may prescribe medication or other treatments to help manage your pet's symptoms and promote healing.
  • For cases which require in-clinic procedures such as x-rays, ultrasounds and surgery, Pawssum partners with local vet clinics to ensure continuity of care for your pet.

  • Gather relevant information about your pet's medical history, including any previous diagnoses, medications, vaccinations, and recent test results
  • Make a list of any specific concerns or symptoms you've noticed in your pet

No, our vets do not perform surgery at home as it requires a sterile and controlled environment. If surgery is required, we partner with local clinics and will refer you to one of our partners.

We meticulously check every vet's name, address, Vet ID, degree, identification documents (drivers licence) and their photograph against the relevant vet board authority.

If your pet requires further diagnostic tests, the vet will discuss the specific tests needed based on the initial examination findings. These tests may include blood work, imaging (such as X-rays or ultrasounds), urine or fecal analysis, or other specialised tests depending on the suspected condition. The vet will explain the purpose of the tests and their potential benefits. They will guide you on the next steps, which may involve scheduling the tests at one of our partner vet clinics or co-ordinating with a diagnostic facility. The goal is to gather additional information to help accurately diagnose your pet's condition and determine the most appropriate treatment plan for their well-being.

Our mobile vets are equipped to handle an extremely wide range of medical conditions and provide various treatments at home. Common conditions that can be treated at home include minor injuries, skin infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal issues, allergies, arthritis management, and chronic diseases such as diabetes or kidney disease. However, the scope of treatment may vary depending on the severity of the condition. In cases where specialised equipment or facilities are required, the vet may provide initial assessment and guidance at home and recommend further care at a clinic, or refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Yes, our mobile vets are experienced specialists in performing compassionate end-of-life services. We also provide aftercare services including gently, carefully and with utmost respect, handling and transporting your pet following euthanasia; cremation (either with friends or private); having your beloved pet's ashes scattered in the crematorium gardens; having your pet's ashes returned to you in a lovely container, tube or an urn; and paw prints and other memorabilia.
