Questions you might have about vaccination

Pet vaccines safeguard your beloved friend against various infectious diseases that pose a risk to both animals and humans. They contain substances resembling the disease-causing microorganism. Once administered, the immune system mounts a response, attacking the foreign substance and forming a memory of it. This memory prepares the body to combat the same disease should it encounter it in the future. Your pet's body typically takes approximately seven days to respond and develop immunity after vaccination.

There are two types of vaccines that the vet may administer:
  • Core vaccines: those which every dog must receive, no matter their age, environment, habits, breed, or circumstance. Core vaccines help prevent animals from contracting life-threatening diseases that have a global distribution.
  • Non-core vaccines: those required based on the context in which the animal lives. These include geographic location, environment, and lifestyle.
Our at-home vet will know what vaccine to administer based on its age, circumstances and previous vaccine history. The most likely scenario is that the vet will provide your dog the C5 vaccine, which contains the 3 core vaccines (against the highly contagious and potentially life-threatening canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus, and canine parvovirus) as well 2 non-core vaccines (against kennel cough and canine parainfluenza virus).

Benefits include:
  • Comfort and reduced stress for you and your pet
  • Elimination of car-related anxiety
  • No exposure to other animals or potential diseases
  • Enhanced pet co-operation
  • Personalised attention
  • Convenience and time-saving by avoiding traffic, parking, and waiting room delays
  • Flexibility to schedule appointments that suit your routine

Upon arrival, our vet will conduct a thorough health assessment of your pet to ensure they are in good overall condition. We will take the time to listen to any concerns you may have and answer any questions regarding the vaccination process. Rest assured, we use high-quality vaccines that are carefully selected to protect your pet against common diseases. Our vaccination procedures are quick, efficient, and designed to minimise any discomfort your pet may experience.

After administering the vaccine, we will provide you with detailed instructions to ensure your pet's well-being. These instructions will guide you on what to expect following the vaccination, including common reactions or side effects that are typically mild and temporary. We are committed to providing comprehensive care and will be available to address any post-vaccination concerns or queries you may have. Our goal is to offer exceptional service, tailored to your pet's specific needs, while prioritising their comfort and minimising any stress associated with vet visits.

We believe that pet owners should have the option of good quality veterinary care at home at little or no extra cost when compared to going to the vet clinic. Our vets are all registered, experienced, professional and compassionate who love to help pets. Our customers give us a superb rating.

Yes, at-home vet services can be just as thorough as clinic visits. Mobile vets are equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to perform comprehensive examinations, diagnostics, and treatments in the comfort of your own home. They are experienced professionals who are trained to provide high-quality veterinary care. While the setting may be different, mobile vets offer the same level of thoroughness and attention to detail as clinic visits. They can conduct physical examinations, administer vaccinations, perform diagnostic tests, provide medications, and offer personalised treatment plans for your pet's specific needs.

The cost of a thorough at-home clinical pet examination by one of our professional, caring vets during weekdays 7:00am - 5:00pm starts from only $159. Medications, lab work (such as blood tests), evenings (5:00pm - 8:00pm) and after-hours (8:00pm - 11:00pm), weekends and public holidays have additional surcharges to this standard visit price.

Yes, we offer great savings for extra pets on the same visit. Please ask our customer service team when you book, or see the current discounts when you book online.

We take Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit and debit cards, as well as Vet Pay and Zip Pay.

Yes, there are a few things you can do to prepare before the vet arrives for an at-home pet examination. You should:
  • Gather relevant information about your pet's medical history, including any previous diagnoses, medications, vaccinations, and recent test results
  • Make a list of any specific concerns or symptoms you've noticed in your pet
  • Prepare a quiet and comfortable area in your home where the vet can perform the examination
  • If you have other pets at home ensure that they are in a separate room
  • and have some treats or rewards on hand to help keep your pet calm and co-operative

You can use our Telepet video call or voice chat service to talk to one of our experienced and trusted vets who can guide you on whether you need an at-home sick pet examination. It's convenient, with costs starting at only $69, and our vet will address any concerns you may have.

We serve dogs and cats.

No, our vets do not perform surgery at home as it requires a sterile and controlled environment. If surgery is required, we partner with local clinics and will refer you to one of our partners.

We meticulously check every vet's name, address, Vet ID, degree, identification documents (drivers licence) and their photograph against the relevant vet board authority.

If your pet requires further diagnostic tests, the vet will discuss the specific tests needed based on the initial examination findings. These tests may include blood work, imaging (such as X-rays or ultrasounds), urine or fecal analysis, or other specialised tests depending on the suspected condition. The vet will explain the purpose of the tests and their potential benefits. They will guide you on the next steps, which may involve scheduling the tests at one of our partner vet clinics or co-ordinating with a diagnostic facility. The goal is to gather additional information to help accurately diagnose your pet's condition and determine the most appropriate treatment plan for their well-being.

Please tell us ahead of time if your pet is aggressive, as we need to know this. Our vet will ensure everyone's safety, including their own, yours and your pet's. They will take appropriate measures to handle the situation professionally and safely. This may involve using specialised handling techniques, employing muzzles or restraints, or temporarily sedating the pet if necessary. The vet's primary concern is to ensure the well-being of all parties involved while still providing necessary care.

Our mobile vets are equipped to handle an extremely wide range of medical conditions and provide various treatments at home. Common conditions that can be treated at home include minor injuries, skin infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal issues, allergies, arthritis management, and chronic diseases such as diabetes or kidney disease. However, the scope of treatment may vary depending on the severity of the condition. In cases where specialised equipment or facilities are required, the vet may provide initial assessment and guidance at home and recommend further care at a clinic, or refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Yes, our mobile vets are experienced specialists in performing compassionate end-of-life services. We also provide aftercare services including gently, carefully and with utmost respect, handling and transporting your pet following euthanasia; cremation (either with friends or private); having your beloved pet's ashes scattered in the crematorium gardens; having your pet's ashes returned to you in a lovely container, tube or an urn; and paw prints and other memorabilia.

Most of the time our vet will carry medications with them if they believe your pet may require them. This is why it is important to provide as many details about your pet’s condition during the booking time. If the vet does not have the right medication on hand, they will provide you with a prescription.
